Lexus hybrid cars are the result of more than a ten years of strenuous scientific efforts and technical adaptations that finally proved worth making. The breakthrough Lexus hybrid models include the GS 450h saloon performance, the RX 400h SUV and the LS 600h saloon luxury flagship; all the three designs are a major signal to the consumer market that low emissions, ride efficiency, high power and fuel advantages are possible in our century. The luxury Lexus hybrid is the first kind of car in its class and it also sets the record as the very first rear wheel drive hybrid automobile. Such a vehicle means less stress on the environment, but even more rewards for the driver.

Though the engine be a 6.0-liter model, Lexus hybrid cars are remarkable by the very low emission range. Besides the green advantages that are the main outcome and goal achievement of hybrid and electrical cars in general, Lexus hybrid models also provide an immense level of comfort that is only specific to luxury cars such as the reclining ottoman or the Shiatsu massage system. The fuel-powered engine is complemented by a very complex electric engine that ensures the functioning of the car from standstill to instant movement. The power button in a Lexus hybrid will only activate the electric power, and though you’ll be touching the acceleration, there are no gas emissions whatsoever.

The main achievement in the design of the Lexus hybrid cars is that the two power sources, electrical and fuel-based are able to work as one single system. This is reflected in the way the electronically controlled continuously variable transmission works making smooth acceleration possible without the inconvenience of changing gears several times. This kind of transmission device has a major impact in the saving energy properties specific to Lexus hybrid vehicles. Furthermore, the noise level becomes minimal, you’ll be driving a silent car that doesn’t bother either the car occupants or the neighbors.

What is the life extent of the electrical battery? This is the main concern for anyone purchasing a Lexus hybrid. The manufacturer claims that the battery is designed for long life usage: it is a 288V Nickel Metal-Hydride device that is located in the rear part of the car so as to ensure a good weight distribution in the economy of the vehicle. Last but not least, Lexus hybrid vehicles are silent and energy saving from acceleration to deceleration. When slowing down or you press the break pedal, the engine becomes a generator. The kinetic force that is reduced and lost is captured and turned into electrical energy that is sent back to the battery recharging it.

It seems that when we say hybrid SUVs we actually make a mistake, as it sounds like an oxymoron. Why is that? SUVs are expensive vehicles and whoever buys one probably has enough money to maintain and fuel it. Even so, with the fuel prices staying so high, we should not be amazed at people?s desire to have more economic vehicles, even though the vehicles under discussion are SUVs. Besides, there is this tendency and policy all over the world to make people aware of the importance of our energy resources which we have been using wastefully. Therefore, we should all be concerned about having hybrid vehicles which are more fuel-efficient.

So with these in mind, people started making some adjusting to powerful vehicles and turn them into hybrid SUVs. When you decide to buy hybrid SUVs, you should know that not all of them are cost?efficient in the long run, which means you have to do some research before choosing among the various hybrid SUVs. To be of help in this matter, analysts at automotive-cost tracking Web site IntelliChoice.com ran a study for CNNMoney.com, in which they analyzed and compared projected 5-year ownership costs for specific vehicles the average expected costs of which were similar to SUVs. The elements followed in this study were fuel, maintenance, finance costs and depreciation. Analysts intended to find out whether specific costs measured up to their expectations. They also compared the difference amounts between non hybrid and hybrid SUVs. According to their findings, hybrid SUVs beat the broad expectations by about $4,000.

Among the hybrid SUVs available on the market at present, there are a number of vehicles like Acura RD-X, BMW X5 Hybrid, Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Equinox, Dodge Durango, Ford Escape, Lexus RZ 400h, Saturn VUE, to mention just a few of them. So, as you can see almost all the big automobile companies have become interested in doing something about the environment and finance and have already come up with a number of hybrid SUVs on the market.

How much fuel do you save with hybrid SUVs? No one can give clear cut figures as the calculations are quite extensive and the amount differs from vehicle to vehicle, as well as from driver to driver. What we can say is that hybrid SUVs, and hybrid vehicles in general, though heavier, seem to bear their bigger weight better than conventional vehicles, and this is only if we look at the problem of fuel efficiency and costs. In conclusion, if you are interested in hybrid SUVs do not hesitate, but go for them. Hybrid SUVs are definitely worth paying for.

Toyota hybrid cars were the first to hit the market. After decades of quality gas-fueled vehicle manufacturing, Toyota Motor Corp. redirected its creative efforts in an environment friendly direction. The first model from the Toyota hybrid cars was Prius that made a true revolution in the world of automakers. The design of the Toyota hybrid cars is considered superior to all the other similar models available on the market: the engine, the mph rate it gets within a few seconds and all the road conditions it offers are some of the best, not to mention that the reliability of the concept and the price are equally advantageous for car owners.

Some of the Toyota hybrid cars are also expected to bring modifications in terms of cylinder performance so that they may come to mark a total change in independent circuit racing. Not everybody is prepared to embrace vehicles in the green line, which is why the production as such is kept pretty limited. Anyone who’d like one of the Toyota hybrid cars manufactured in series production can place an order and a deposit with the local Toyota dealers. Before going for the purchase, have a look at the technical data and even analyze them together with a mechanic expert.

The bad part is that more advanced Toyota hybrid cars are worth a fortune, and they are far from the reach of the average user who cannot afford to buy up to $165,000 for a car even if it has a much lower fuel consume. The next Toyota Prius model expected to be unveiled in January 2009 is the one to keep the consumers hopes up. It is designed as a more powerful and larger vehicle with an engine growth to 1.8 liters. The range of all-electric fuel-free driving possibility will be extended without increasing the weight level of the existent Toyota hybrid cars.

Even if the future Toyota hybrid cars will undergo some upgrading, they will keep relying on the nickel metal hydride batteries without offering any plug-in choice. Thus, the Prius is expected to be provided in a variety of models from the compact and the small SUV to the wagon and the pickup. The new Toyota hybrid cars are tributary to the first Prius models with the all-electric mode available for low speeds. Then, the combined power engine of the gas and electric motor devices will allow you to enjoy the speed of a comfortable ride while on optimal fuel consume.

The present tendency and raised interest in taking care of the environment, and saving the planet?s energy resources by wasting as little as possible has materialized, at least in the field of car making. We are talking about the appearance of a new type of vehicle: the hybrid. Honda is among the many car manufacturers that have taken this approach, coming up with a number of hybrid cars like the Hybrid Honda Accord. The Hybrid Honda Accord was made between 2005 and 2007 by Sayama, Japan and Marysville, Ohio. The successors of the Hybrid Honda Accord are Honda FCX Clarity and Honda Accord Diesel. The class to which the Hybrid Honda Accord belongs is mid-size. This is actually a 4-door sedan with an FF layout. It has a 3.0L V6 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission. The other specifics of the Hybrid Honda Accord are wheelbase ? 107.9 in, length ? 189.5 in (in 2005) and 191.1 in (in 2006 - 07), width ? 71.4 in (in 2005) and 71.7 in (in 2006 ? 07), height ? 57.0 in (in 2005) and 57.2 in (in 2006 ? 07). Other vehicles by Honda related to the Hybrid Honda Accord are Honda Accord and Honda Inspire.

The Hybrid Honda Accord is a hybrid version of the North American Honda Accord which was provided in model years 2005 through 2007. The Hybrid Honda Accord followed the other hybrid models from Honda: Honda Insight and Honda Civic Hybrid. The third in the line of hybrid Hondas, this Accord variety was valued $3,000 more than the EX V6 model Accord and it maintained the same trim and feature levels, except the 2005 model which did not include the power sunroof. The Hybrid Honda Accord has been placed at the top of the Honda lineup.

It has the same displacement as the regular 7th generation Accord V6 power plant; yet the engine of the Hybrid Honda Accord is derived from the Honda Odyssey Minivan model of 2005. The Hybrid Honda Accord has the capacity to shut off three out of the six cylinders for fuel economy reasons, but only under certain conditions. This technology regarding the cylinders is called Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) and it was invented by Honda. The engine of the Hybrid Honda Accord features iVTEC technology and also drives a new compact transmission. This new transmission was developed as to allow the inclusion of the electric motor inserted between the transmission and the transversely-mounted engine. The fuel economy in this hybrid Honda was initially estimated at 29 mpg (8.1 L/100 km/35mpg imp) in the city and 37 mpg (6.4 L/100 km/44 mpg imp) outside. With such features, it’s no wonder that the Hybrid Honda Accord won the Canadian Car of the Year Best New Alternative Power award in 2005.

To many knowledgeable users, Nissan Altima hybrid design is a true accomplishment in terms of design and ecological purpose. A mid-sized Sedan, Nissan Altima hybrid will cost you around $33,000 approximately, but though the price may seem scary, it seems to be worth paying. In terms of horsepower, you’ve got 158-horsepower to enjoy, resulting from the combined function of a gasoline and an electrical motor. The fuel feeding rate is not exactly the lowest in its category but it is considered pretty acceptable for a 2.5 engine. Even so, Nissan Altima hybrid does have serious competition on the market from models like Toyota Camry hybrid or Chevrolet Malibu hybrid that are also more accessible in terms of price.

There is not such a big difference between the Toyota Camry and this Nissan Altima Hybrid, since the two models rely basically on the same hybrid-drive system. Nissan vehicles have always been more expensive, but their technical features and great mechanics have also compensated and justified such high rates. A good review of Nissan Altima Hybrid says that this is actually ?the first hybrid that drives like a Nissan?, meaning that you’ll not even realize you are driving a semi-electrical car, unless someone tells it to you. This ecological sedan variant should be given more credit, before invalidating the actual quality claims by labeling them as marketing blah-blah.

What is the big Nissan Altima hybrid advantage that other cars in the same category lack? Well, experts claim that it is the power of the electrical batteries that sets the model apart. Nissan Altima hybrid can give you a 40 mile per hour speed just by using its electrical engine, add the gasoline engine and you get the success recipe of the model. There are however disadvantages and that of the car weight is the most often brought into discussion. The nickel-metal hydride batteries add some 300 extra pounds to the overall weight and this is felt in the car movement on the road.

The compensation for such extra weight in the Nissan Altima hybrid cars results from the incorporation in the design of lighter-weight parts: this is the case with the interior as well as the insulation layers. The interior comfort meets high standard levels with the wood accents in the cabin making traveling a comfortable nice experience. No reproach can be made when it comes to the controls lay out or to the driving position or visibility rate. The appreciation is left up to the user, only those who’ve tried it can pass a verdict on Nissan Altima hybrid reliability.

An electric hybrid car is a vehicle that runs relying on two system: the conventional one everyone knows using propulsion and the new technology one using energy that is stored and that can be recharged. The purpose of such a vehicle is to be economical in terms of fuel consume. The energy storage of the electric hybrid car is lengthened because more energy can be generated and captured either through the regenerative braking system or through internal combustion and the electrical generator. This power is either stored in the battery or simply sent to the electric motor that is responsible for setting the vehicle into motion. The motor of such a car is much smaller than that of a regular fuel vehicle and thus, the car is more efficient.

Many users have started recommending the electric hybrid car along with its producers as it is most efficient especially while driving through the city. The fuel consume is very much reduced if we were to compare this car with a regular model and this is due to three important systems that are activated. The first is that which reduces wasted energy during low output and this is achieved if you turn the internal combustion engine off. The second is the system based on which energy is captured through regenerative braking. The third aspect that makes the electric hybrid car more fuel efficient is that it relies on a smaller internal combustion engine while adding power from the electric motor to compensate.

Another advantage of the electric hybrid car models is noise reduction. The electric motor is more silent than the internal combustion one and thus our health is better protected by this hybrid system. However some people do not like this aspect concerning noise reduction believing that it is responsible for more accidents especially among the visually impaired who rely on noise in order to cross a street.

Last but not least, the electric hybrid car models help in reducing gas emissions that pollute our air and our cities. The less pollution, the fewer the cases of respiratory problems. We all talk about protecting our environment nowadays but little seems to be done in the car industry. The electric hybrid car should be ruling our industry and should in time be replaced by even more advanced technologies that eliminate the use of fuel and release of gas emissions into our atmosphere. We should start considering the electric hybrid car as the more recent forefather of what the near future should bring.

Toyota Highlander hybrid is a the green variant of a mid-sized family SUV, with seven seats and lots of additional functions added to its predecessor model. This new design aims at attracting a wider range of consumers that have shown interest in eco-cars. The wheelbase of Toyota Highlander hybrid is developed from the Camry chassis with the mention that the new model is nearly four inches longer and three inches wider. Due to the eco-power option, Toyota Highlander hybrid is also a lot heavier, with a surplus of 263 pounds as compared to the model it has evolved from.

Toyota Highlander hybrid has a 3.3-liter, and a V6 engine with an electric drive motor that makes this car race with a sum of 270 horsepower. The electronic steering mechanism makes parking in crowded parking lots accessible and not at all cumbersome. A difference between Toyota Highlander hybrid and the gas-powered model is present in the design of the suspension system. The gas version which is considered the more conventional has sport suspensions whereas the eco version translates the comfort need in the presence of the softer suspensions. Every vehicle offers three ways of maximizing fuel economy and they are comprehensively presented in the owner’s manual.

Toyota Highlander hybrid users should carefully read how to interpret and use the info on the hybrid system indicator according to the ?normal? or ?acceleration? modes. You don’t have to be an expert to understand what each of the above mean, and it goes without saying that once you hit the acceleration pedal the fuel consume will increase significantly. However, even for higher speed there is an optimal instant consume that you can maximize accordingly. When at low speeds, Toyota Highlander hybrid allows you to operate only on the electric mode but on limited distances only.

Last but not least, Toyota Highlander hybrid has another control function known as the Econ drive mode that doesn’t allow you to accelerate excessively and thus abuse the fuel consume. The Econ mode is known to work great when you drive in a crowded city with the stop-and-go traffic, then the fuel economy increase will be significant under the circumstances. As for driving on highways, the Econ mode of Toyota Highlander hybrid is not that rewarding as you will feel incredibly slowed down. In a nutshell, you need to adjust the functions of this great car to the needs of the moment in order to be efficient and green at the same time.

There has been a lot of discussion and action in the direction of saving and not using wastefully the planet?s energy resources. Car manufacturers have also adopted this ?healthy? position and most of them have already done things to become green. One of these things that makes car manufacturers green is that they have adjusted the old models and made new models which are more economic. Thus the hybrid vehicle has become a sort of priority for many car makers, among which Honda is quite an important one. Honda has come up with a number of hybrid Honda cars. For a number of years Honda has brought us different variants of hybrid Honda vehicles like the Honda Insight, the Hybrid Honda Accord and others.

This company will revive its Insight hybrid which is actually its ?Prius fighter?, at the Paris motor show this October. This hybrid Honda model with five seats, takes its styling cues from the 2007 Honda FCX Clarity which is a hydrogen fuel-cell-powered vehicle. According to Honda officials, the new Insight hybrid Honda will have a price lower than those of the competition, due to the innovations and cost savings which have been possible through the company?s Integrated Motor Assist hybrid-drive system (IMA). Thus, if the original Insight hybrid Honda produced between 1999 and 2006 was $50,000, the new hybrid Honda will cost somewhere between $30,000 and $35,000.

What is typical of the IMA system in the new hybrid Honda is that this is a parallel hybrid system composed of an electric engine placed between the engine and the transmission. Placed in this position, the IMA in the new hybrid Honda has the part of a starter-motor and engine balancer, also helping the gas engine under acceleration conditions. The hybrid Honda under discussion here includes technology that allows a very fuel efficient driving. This is represented by a gauge-read-out which shows real-time fuel consume. This gauge in the new hybrid Honda also recommends the best way to extract the maximum km out of a tank fuel.

The producer is aiming at making some 500,000 hybrid Honda cars per year, which represents 10% of the company?s overall production. The price of the new hybrid Honda and its availability on the market for selling, though not announced for Australia yet, has already been announced for North America. Honda is speaking with a high degree of confidence about their new hybrid Honda, insisting on the advantages it will have on the market, due to the new stage it represents in the evolution of hybrid technology. The important benefit brought about by the new hybrid Honda lies in the combination of the more cost-efficient Integrated Motor Assist hybrid technology and the higher level of affordability which will definitely attract more customers all over the world.

Honda hybrid models became available on the market in 1990?s and they were introduced in the United States in 1999. The model called Honda Insight was the first one that became available to us buyers and soon Toyota Prius followed Honda?s model. Apparently Honda hybrid models are not sold as well as the Toyota ones even though in the United States Honda has taken the lead. One Honda hybrid that set a record in terms of selling in 2004 is the Civic Hybrid. The number of Honda hybrid models sold on the market since 1999 when Insight was released until 2006 surpassed that of 100,000. Most of these models have found owners in the United States, next come Japan, Europe and Canada.

In 2004 another Honda hybrid was introduced on the market and it was called Accord. This way people could enjoy the Honda hybrid models more extensively and with a greater variety. It has presented the company in North America with quite a great deal of success and worldwide it has become a favorite among hybrid models. This particular model has 255 horse power, it is a V-6 car and it reduces the fuel consume a great deal.

The Civic Honda hybrid was released in 2002 and it was equipped with an integrated motor assist system that worked wonders in terms of increasing fuel efficiency. In 2006 this model was declared the Car of the Year in North America based on the advantages presented by design, safety, way of handling, satisfaction offered to drivers and value.

Going back to the first Honda hybrid, the Insight was also fuel efficient and it took the lead in the car sales for about six years. It has been estimated that about a tank of 10 gallons can take you somewhere between six and seven hundred miles.

All in all, like any other hybrid model, the Honda hybrid models are also very environmentally friendly. The emission level they release into the air is lower and thus our urban environment is much more protected from this point of view. As a result of reducing pollution and noise, fewer people will have to suffer from various illnesses or respiratory problems caused by exhaust gases. The only problem that Honda hybrid models and other companies? designs share is that the batteries are toxic for the environment. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that we follow instructions to what it is allowed to do and what not with those batteries.

Which is the best hybrid car ever made so far? Who can point to a hybrid vehicle and say this is the best hybrid car? Well, if you really want to make a difference, let me tell you this is something very difficult to do. Just think about the competition in the car industry. Each and every car maker has one important goal in their range of activity, namely to create better green vehicles, and hopefully the best hybrid car.

Several factors indicate the candidates for the title of “best hybrid car” but with an ever changing market, chances are that the first position will not always be occupied by the same model. Fuel consume efficiency, horsepower, price of the car, design and utilities are just a few of the criteria by which to appreciate and give a rating to a hybrid car model.

The care for the fuel consume efficiency of the best hybrid car is justified given the ever growing oil price and the burden put on the environment by toxic emissions. Well a hybrid car first and foremost aims at reducing fuel consume. Therefore the best hybrid car, from this perspective at least, should be running more on electric power than on gas, and even when the regular engine is in function, the average gas need should be lower than that of a regular car.

No matter the engine combination, the best hybrid car should be capable to lead to a gas consume rate that would justify its high initial cost. Some of the best hybrid car materializations, in this line of thought, might be considered Toyota Prius and Honda Civic, the systems of which boost fuel economy by the use of an electric motor to support the gas engine.

When making classifications of the best hybrid car models size also sets them apart. Thus, you might be interested in the best hybrid car in the small, town-use category, or maybe the mid-size hybrid sedans are more suitable for your needs. Luxury hybrid vehicles are rather pretentious and expensive, but they do have their targeted buyers.

The best hybrid car according to personal requirements should be chosen by asking an expert for advice and guidance in this field of green-oriented vehicles. Thus, you should consider the cost of replacing certain equipment items, governmental tax credits, fuel economy, warranty, battery charging system and so on. There are other technical details that also need clarified, but that is the expert’s part.
